The New York State Department
of Transportation is upgrading 1.93 miles of NYS
Route 17 in the Town and Village of Horseheads. Improvements at the eastern end of the
project near NYS Route 13 will impact 1.22 acres of NYS Regulated Freshwater
Wetlands. To compensate for this impact, 2.30 acres of wetland will be created and an
additional 5.0 acres will be dedicated to a conservation use. Project documents are
available in the office of the Village Clerk for the Village of Horseheads in addition to
this office.

This project involves the
installation of 3,920 linear feet (LF) of 8-inch and 12-inch
sanitary sewer within the central core of the Village of Red Creek, serving portions of
Main Street, Canada Street, Church Street, Water Street, and Cross Street. A portion of
this project or approximately 650 LF of sanitary sewer, 6 manholes, a grinder pump
station along with various service connections will be located within 100 LF from the
edge of Mill Pond, a New York State Regulated Freshwater Wetland. On a interim basis,
wastewater will be treated at the treatment plant in the Village. After completion of the
regional wastewater treatment plant in the vicinity of Ford Road and Caywood Road, all
wastewater will be treated at the new facility.
