proposes to raise the replacement bulkhead to a uniform 5' above grade, resulting in the
closing off of existing boatwell. Additionally, applicant proposes to dredge to 4' below
mean low water 10' seaward of bulkhead and use resultant 95 cubic yards of spoil as fill
for boatwell and backfill behind bulkhead. Project includes construction of a new 10'
return at south end and construction of a 10' wide capping boardwalk and installation of a
chain link fence. Project is located on Montauk Highway adjacent to Amityville Creek in

located approximately one mile south of the Fire Island Pines area. The
dredging and sand placement is expected to be a one-time event to nourish

and replace 165' of bowed out bulkhead, and construct
40' of new bulkhead extension on north side of marina, and to remove and replace 7' of
bulkhead in northwest corner with new 30' return. To build a new 4' wide capping
boardwalk and remove and replace pilings off northerly bulkhead. To remove all
bulkheading on east and south sides of marina basin and replace with low sill bulkheads
landward of existing bulkhead on east and south side. To build 360' of upper wall
landward of low sill bulkheads and 20' of standard bulkhead in southwest corner to
connect. To excavate seaward of proposed low sill bullkheads to 4' below average low
water, and to excavate between low sill bulkheads and landward wall to create slope on
which to plant high marsh and intertidal marsh vegetation. To dredge entire marina basin
to 4' below average low water and build a 4' wide walk adjacent and seaward of low sill
bulkheads.To remove existing floating dock and ramp off south bulkhead. To install 6
pilings for piling/pulley mooring system. To build a 4' x 105' fixed pier and a 4' x 50'
fixed pier with 5 mooring piles. Excavation is expected to result in 2000 cubic yards of
spoil to be used as backfill or removed to an upland location. Project is located on
Fireplace Lane, Brookhaven.
