Project Description:
The applicant proposes to
armor a total of approximately 1,000 linear feet of stream bank
on Mill Creek, with waste concrete rip-rap, to protect valuable farm land from erosion.
50% of the concrete pieces will be at least 100 lbs. each, and 50% of the pieces in the
base or "toe" will be at least 500 lbs. each. The project location is upstream
from
Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities' material storage area on the
southeast side of County Route 62. The project is intended to provide mitigation for
adverse impacts to farmland resulting from the expansion of the applicant's Maloy Farm
Mine, in accordance with the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the expansion. A
Notice of Complete Application (Application ID: 9-0644-00012/00005) and Notice of
Acceptance of DEIS for the mine expansion, was published in the 10/02/2002 issues of
the State Environmental Notice Bulletin and the Post-Journal. The application, subject of
this Notice, has been included in the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the mine
expansion (See SEQR Notices).
