Queens County – The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), as lead agency, has determined that its proposed Jamaica Bay Energy Center project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the siting, construction, and operation of a 54 megawatt simple-cycle turbine generator by Jamaica Bay Peaking Facility, LLC in Far Rockaway, Queens. The proposed facility will meet a need for additional generating capacity and improved system reliability in the LIPA service area.
