Project Description:
The applicant proposes
to renew their mining permit and expand the existing sand and
gravel mining operation. The life of mine boundary is proposed to be increased from 32.8
acres to 50.8 acres, with 12.7 acres south of the existing office area and 5.3 acres in the
northwestern portion of the property adjacent to lands owned by the Village of Poland.
The area to be affected during the coming five year permit term will also increase from
26.0 acres to 38.7 acres. Onsite processing will include screening, crushing, the continued
usage of a closedloop materials wash plant and the installation of a new portable
processing plant in the proposed 12.7 acre expansion area. The mine is located
immediately south of the Village of Poland and approximately 900 feet east of NYS Rt. 28
in the Town of Newport, Herkimer County

Project Description:
The Department has made
a tentative determination to approve the application of GM-Powertrain Massena Plant, a manufacturer
of aluminum automobile parts. The permit
application is to install three insignificant sources and not operate them. There will be
zero emissions of contaminants. The facility will then apply for a Title V modification
which will include the operation of these sources.
