Project Description:
The applicant proposes to
raise the eastern end of Saratoga Blvd. approximately 1.5 feet
to prevent flooding of the roadway. One catch basin and associated drainage pipes will
be removed and two catch basins will be installed and a 15 inch diameter drainage pipe
installed which will outfall in the creek. The outfall point will be secured with 4 cubic
yards of mortared rip-rap. Remove a 24 inch diameter drainage pipe from the east end of
Atlantic Place North and replace with a 54 inch drainage pipe with the oufall on Shell
Creek. Install 17 linear feet of vinyl bulkhead in place of the existing rip-rap at the outfall
point. Install 33 linear feet of vinyl bulkhead on the seaward side of the existing concrete
seawall near the outfall point. Dredge 100 cubic yards of material from an approximate
300 square foot area seaward of the oufall point to a depth of 3.5 feet below apparent low
water with 20 cubic yards of the resultant spoil to be used to backfill the bulkheads. The
project is located at Saratoga Blvd. and Atlantic Place North, Barnum Island, Hempstead
Town, Nassau County.
