Notice of Acceptance of Draft Generic EIS

Warren, Washington and Essex Counties - The Lake George Park Commission, as lead agency has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Lake George Deltas Sedimentation Management and Shoreline Restoration Project. The action involves the reclamation and removal of delta sediments in Lake George as part of a programmatic approach to shoreline management which will restore navigability, reestablish indigenous plant and animal habitat, improve recreational use and reduce opportunities for nuisance aquatic plant growth. The project area includes deltas at the mouths of several large tributaries which have been identified for evaluation. These include Hague, Indian, Finkle, English, West, East, and Foster Brooks. The program will also identify thresholds and conditions for the consideration of projects at other tributaries in a generic approach. Therefore, components of the project will occur in the Towns of Hague, Bolton, Lake George, Dresden and the Village of Lake George. Additional future project components may occur in the Towns of Queensbury, Fort Ann, Putnam and Ticonderoga. The named municipalities are all within the Counties of Warren, Washington and Essex.
