Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing

Essex, Clinton and Warren Counties - The New York State Department of Transportation, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft EIS on the proposed Adirondack Northway Motorist-Aid Call Box Replacement Project. Comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until October 11, 2002. Public hearings on the Draft EIS will be held at the following locations:

The action involves the replacement of the existing sixty-four (64) motorist-aid call boxes between Interchange 26 and Interchange 35. Each call box will be supported by a new wireless-based infrastructure that includes thirty-three (33), brown, steel antenna poles, each thirty-eight feet (38’) in height. A grouping of equipment cabinets will accompany each antenna pole, housing transmitting and receiving equipment and connecting the pole to commercial electrical and telephone services. Each antenna pole can provide co-location opportunities for up to three (3) additional wireless service providers, minimizing the need for additional towers along the corridor. The project is located between Interchange 26 and Interchange 35 on Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway in the Towns of Schroon, North Hudson, Lewis, Chesterfield, Peru, Chester and Elizabethtown and the Counties of Essex, Clinton and Warren.
