Project Description:
The applicant proposes to
dredge sediment from the southern end of Owasco Lake by
excavating two channels on either side of the lake. The channels would be 978 feet long
on the west shoreline and 1767 feet long on the east shoreline. Each channel would be
dredged with a 3:1 slope for 20 feet to the design depth (707.5 feet above mean sea level)
along the shoreline, with a 25 foot wide flat channel. It would then be dredged for 15 feet
at a 2:1 slope on the lake side edge. Approximately 8,000 cubic yards of material will be
excavated from the east channel, and 4,000 cubic yards from the west channel. Excavated
sediment will be moved and stored in a predetermined upland site.

Project Description:
The department has made
a determination that a permit application is complete for a
38000 GPD force main and sanitary sewer collection system to be connected to the
existing Oak Orchard Sewage Treatment Plant. The system will service 170 existing
homes on Horseshoe Island using low pressure sewers and individual grinder pumps.
Force main crossings of the Barge Canal at Oneida River, Mud Creek and other
tributaries will be by directional boring. The sewers will be located along Horseshoe
Island Rd., Bonstead Rd. and Oak Orchard Rd.in the Town of Clay within the adjacent
areas of Freshwater wetlands BRE-17 and BAL-2.
