Rensselaer County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Weir Gravel Mine may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves construction and operation on a 35-acre Gravel Mine ( 40 acres affected by mining), including the processing of minerals, with a discharge of industrial wastewater. 18 acres are proposed for mining in the 2001-2006 permit term. The project is located approximately 300 feet north of the bridge over Tomhannock Creek on the Buttermilk Falls Road, Town of Schaghticoke.
