| Project is Located: | Schroon, Essex County | |
|
Project Description: The applicant proposes to
expand an existing docking facility from a 10 boat capacity to
a 60 boat capacity facility. The project is located within the designated Recreational
River Area of Schroon Lake and will be situated over state-owned lands underwater thus
requiring a permit from this department pursuant to the Wild, Scenic and Recreational
Rivers Act. The NYS Office of General Services is currently reviewing a license
application that will authorize the docking facility. The main docking system will consist
of a 170 feet long floating walkway, parallel and adjacent to the shoreline, with three (3)
100 feet long floating docks extending perpendicularly from the walkway into the lake.
There will be a total of 25 finger docks, each 20 feet long, attached to the 3 principal
docks. The walkway and all floating docks will be 4 feet in width. This system will
accommodate a total of 50 boats and the slips will be offered as rentals.
In
addition to this main docking system, an existing 10-slip docking system located
adjacent to and south of the 50-slip system, will be replaced by new floating docks with
an equal capacity. A 110 feet long floating dock will extend perpendicular to the shore
with five (5) 20 feet long finger docks attached to the side facing the 50-slip system.
These 10 slips will be designated as temporary dockage for patrons of the restaurant and
miniature golf course operated by the applicant on the upland portion of this parcel of
land.
