|Notice of Acceptance of Draft Supplemental EIS and Public Hearing|
Wayne County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed construction of an Environmental Education Center in the Northern Montezuma Wetlands Complex. In 1991, the management of the Northern Montezuma Wetlands Complex was the subject of a Final Environmental Impact Statement in which one of the expressed objectives was to "improve accessibility to this wetland complex for compatible wildlife-related public recreation, education and research." A public hearing on the Draft Supplemental EIS will be held on July 8, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Town of Savannah Town Hall, North Main Street, Savannah, NY 13146 phone: (315) 365-2811. Comments on the Draft Supplemental EIS will be accepted until July 22, 2002. The Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement and the 1991 Final EIS are available for review at the NYSDEC Region 8 Office at 6274 East Avon Lima Road, Avon, NY 14414 and at . The Town of Savannah Town Hall, North Main Street, Savannah, NY 13146. The project is located approximately 1.5 miles north of the hamlet of Savannah, immediately north of the Crusoe Creek on the west side of Rt 89.

Seneca County - The Seneca County Board of Supervisors, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Seneca County Public Safety Building and Jail. The public comment period ends on July 17, 2002 at 4:30 p.m. The Seneca County Board of Supervisors is proposing to construct a County Public Safety Building at an alternative site, specifically the Seneca County Army Depot Site, located directly to the west of the intersection of Bromka Road and Route 96.
