Project Description:
The applicant proposes a highway reconstruction project, using tires baled together for a road subgrade within two sections of Sanford Road totaling 1,800 feet, located approximately 5,000 feet southeast of the intersection of County Road 85 and Sanford Road within the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation's Boutwell Hill Management Unit in the Town of Cherry Creek. The tires will be baled at the Ellery Landfill.  Each tire bale will consist of approximately 100-125 tires, bound together using steel stainless cable; each will be approximately 4' x 5' x 2 ½' in dimension; and weigh approximately 2,000 pounds.  Roadbed material in the existing section of Sanford Road will be excavated; filter fabric underlayment will be installed; tire bales will be placed over the fabric as a subgrade; granular material will be used to fill voids; and the final road surface will consist of eighteen inches of gravel, covering the bales.
State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination: Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.
SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination: Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.
Coastal Management: This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
Opportunity for Public Comment: Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jul 5 2002.

Project Description:
The applicant proposes to stabilize the banks of Ellicott Creek from slumping by placing approximately 1190 linear feet of vegetative plantings into an erosion control blanket and installation of approximately 360 linear feet of stone block retaining wall.  Minor regrading of the stream banks will occur to prepare the banks and to allow adequate capacity prior to the installation of the bank protection.  The golf course is located south of Sheridan Drive and east of Union Road.

Project Description:
The applicant proposes to relocate approximately 400 feet of Tonawanda Creek to reduce bank erosion and local flooding. The excavated material from the new stream channel will be used to block off the old stream channel and create stream bank slopes in the new stream channel for the placement of approximately 250 feet of rock riprap. The project will protect the applicant's home and barn at 2765 Route 98, Varysburg.
