Notice to Holders of Commercial Lobster and Food Fish Licenses and Other Interested Parties

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (Department) will hold a public hearing on the Department’s pending proposal to adopt 6 NYCRR Section 40.7, Special Management Areas, pursuant to Environmental Conservation Law §13-0360. The proposed regulations designate all artificial reefs listed in 6 NYCRR Section 40.6 as Artificial Reef Special Management Areas, further designate the natural reefs around Fishers Island as the Fishers Island Special Management Area (FISMA), and establish restrictions on activities within Special Management Areas.

The public hearing will be held on June 18, 2002, at Greenport High School, 720 Front Street, Greenport, New York. The hearing will held in two sessions as follows:

SHPA: Cultural resource lists and maps have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Project Description: The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a permit for the discharge of 15,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste to the groundwater located at Precision Drive, Shirely, New York. The proposed discharge is located with an area designated as a sole source aquifer. The following public water purveyors have been identified as having service areas located within a three mile radius of the applicant’s facility: 1) Suffolk County Water Authority. SPDES NY-0253391

Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Town of Brookhaven Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Fairfield at Pinewood at Coram will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves 173 apartments in 23 buildings with garages, storage units, tennis court, swimming pool and community center and other standard site improvements. The project is located on the west side of Route 112, 809.5 ft. south of Pine Road, Town of Brookhaven.

Suffolk County - The Town of Southampton Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposal by James F. Sullivan will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. A public hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Southampton Town Hall, on July 11, 2002. The action involves the subdivision of a 5.075 acre tract of land into two lots, located in the R-60 Zoning District. The project is located on the south side of Hildreth Lane, approximately 104 feet south of Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton (SCTM No. 900-85-2-1.1), in the Town of Southampton.

SERP Action - Reaffirmation of Negative Declaration

Nassau County - Pursuant to the NYS Clean Water/Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and the State Environmental Quality Review Act, DWSRF No. 17067, the Port Washington Water District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Construction of Water Treatment Facilities will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of water treatment facilities to remove organic chemical constituents by means of carbon absorption from the discharge of well N2030 (Neulist Avenue Well #3) serving communities within the Port Washington Water District. The project is located on the north side of Neulist Avenue, 1/2 mile west of Port Washington Blvd., Plandome Manor.

Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS

Suffolk County - The Planning Board of the Town of Riverhead, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Aquebogue Golf Resorts. The action involves the subdivision of a total of 185.789 acres in five exisitng tax lots and zoned Agriculture A and Residence A for the generation of yield to construct 160 condominium units and three agricultural lots totaling 109 acres. The project is located on the southeast and southwest corners of the intersection of Northville Turnpike (CR 43) and Cross River Drive (CR 105), also lying between Cross River Drive, Northville Turnpike and Sound Avenue also south of Sound Avenue east of Long Island National Golf Course and lastly at the south end of the golf course, Riverhead Township.
