Project Title: Physical control program for milfoil in Mountain View and Indian Lakes

Project Description: A regulated wetland activity: proposed 10-year management and control program for Eurasian Watermilfoil in Mountain View and Indian Lakes. Milfoil will be selectively hand harvested in water depths of 2 meters or less. Control efforts may also involve use of suction harvesting and selective placement of benthic mats in areas of dense beds of milfoil. Annual target areas will be areas with greatest abundance of milfoil and areas with highest potential to fragment and spread milfoil.

Project Title: Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks

Project Description: Applicant proposes construction of a new public/semi-public building consisting of a museum being the "Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks." The museum will consist of a 34,445 sq. ft. structure (with future plans to expand to 50,000 sq. ft.) greater than 40 feet in height, as measured from the lowest point of elevation of grading required for construction to the highest elevation of the structure. The museum will contain exhibits related to the natural history and environment of the Adirondacks. Site development will include the construction of an access driveway, municipal sewer and water lines, parking for 202 vehicles, walking paths, an observation tower, pond and wetland complex, snowshoe lodge and amphitheater. The museum will be served by municipal water and sewer and will have an on-site well to supply water to various aquatic exhibits and for back-up fire protection. Hours of operation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. seven days/week from i) May - October and ii) four days/week from November - April annually. Throughout the entire year, the facility will be available for special programs during off-hours.

Project Title: Town of Mayfield Beach

Location: Town of Mayfield, Route 30 & Great Sacandaga Lake, Fulton County

Project Description: The Town of Mayfield proposes to construct a public beach on Great Sacandaga Lake together with an associated 12 foot by 16 foot beach office building, a picnic area, a 56 vehicle parking lot and an access road to the beach from Burr Road. The upland beach area will measure approximately 18,400 square feet in size with an adjacent 16,800 square foot swimming area to be designated by buoy lines. The beach will operate annually from June 15 to Labor Day, seven days per week, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Bottled water and self-contained portable toilets will be utilized. After-the-fact approval is sought for construction of the access road, a portion of which is located in wetlands. Wetlands impacted by road construction will be mitigated by a proposed 0.57 on-site wetlands restoration/creation area.

Project Title: Jane E. Monroe

Project Description: The project involves the subdivision of the 7 acre site into four lots and after-the-fact approval of a 0.90 acre non-building lot conveyed to adjoining landowners in 1984. Lot 1 is a 4.275 acre parcel with a pre-existing single family dwelling on it. Lots 2 and 3 are respectively 1.159 acres and 0.158 acres. Both parcels are to be retained by the applicant with an adjoining lot. The adjoining lot is 0.516 acres and was gifted to the applicant in 1985. It has an existing single family dwelling on it. Lot 4 is a 1.367 acre parcel to be conveyed to Michael Monroe for the construction of a single family dwelling or mobile home with on-site water supply and wastewater treatment systems.

Negative Declaration

Essex County - The Essex Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Cabins by the Lake Renovations by Steve McKenna will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the approval of a Special Use Permit application for the project. The project is located on Lake Street in the Town of Essex.
