Project Description:
The Town of Batavia proposes to extend the Batavia Consolidated Water District into its South Main Street Road Extension (Water Improvement Area) to take for use therein a supply of water estimated to average 5,100 gallons per day from the City of Batavia's well and Tonowanda Creek source to serve existing and new residences along South Main Street Road and Wortendyke Road in the Town of Batavia.  The project will include crossing of a Class C stream and an unmapped wetland, hydraulically connected to Freshwater Wetland AX-7, south of South Main Street Road, at the Corner of Wortendyke Road. The application file is available for review and comment at NYSDEC Region 8.
State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination: Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.
SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination: A cultural resources survey has been completed. The report of the survey is on file. No archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.
Coastal Management: This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
Opportunity for Public Comment: Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than May 31 2002.

The Town of Hopewell proposes to operate the Central Hopewell Water District and to take for use therein a supply of water estimated to average 24,000 gallons per day from the Town of Gorham's Canandaigua Lake source.  The project includes 29,000 lineal feet of 8-inch water main and appurtenances to serve 85 existing residences and potential future growth along Freshour Road, County Road 4, County Road 46, and County Road 47 in the Town of Hopewell. The project will require crossing Freshwater Wetland CS-26.  The file is available for review and comment at the Region 8 NYSDEC office.

Project Description:
The applicant proposes to develop and operate the 4.9 acre Maple Terrace Gravel Mine within a 92.4 acre parcel on County Route 10.  The project is located 1/4 mile south of the intersection of NYS Route 228 and Schuyler County Route 10 in the Town of Catharine.  Mining is not proposed for below the local water table.  Excavation will be done by mechanical equipment  standard for sand and gravel mining operations.  Mining is proposed to remove approximately 50,000 cubic yards of aggregate sand and gravel over the operational life of the mine.  Material will be stockpiled as unprocessed “run-of-bank” or processed with a portable screen.  Maximum processing rates for the screening operation will not exceed 90 tons-per-hour.  Final reclamation will restore the site to agricultural use.  Reclamation will include the replacement of stockpiled topsoil, and re-seeding with an approved USDA SCS seed mixture.  Part of the site has been previously used for mining.  The reviewed life-of-mine area is 4.9 acres.  Application materials are available for public review and comment at the Regional Office of NYS DEC.

Project Description:
The applicant proposes to develop and operate an 11.7 acre surface sand and gravel mine within a 34.22 acre parcel located south of Edmonds Road in the Town of Rose.  The mine will operate as a traditional surface extraction of the Alton series of gravelly sandy loams, the predominate soil type on the site.  Mining is proposed for below the local water table.  Excavation will be done by mechanical equipment, standard for sand and gravel mining operations and for removal of material below the local water table.  Mining is proposed to remove approximately 374,950 cubic yards of aggregate sand and gravel over the operational life of the mine.  Material will be stockpiled as unprocessed “run-of-bank”, or processed with a portable screen.  Maximum processing rates for the screening operations will not exceed 140 tons-per-hour (TPH).  Final reclamation will restore the site to a +/-11 acre open water recreational/wildlife pond with graded and re-vegetated upland.  The reviewed life-of-mine area is 11.7 (LOM) acres.   Application materials are available for public review and comment at the Regional Office of NYS DEC.
State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination: Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.
