Project Description: The
applicant requests renewal with modifications to his permit for a 5 acre life of
mine sand mine known as the Christon Sand Mine located to the southwest side of
Christon Street in the Town of Schuyler Falls. Modifications to the permit consist of an
increase to the approved life of mine size from 5 acres to 6.5 acres in order to encompass
a 1.5 acre area that was inadvertently subjected to mining activity and the transfer of the
permit to the permittee's son, Joseph Ormsby. Mining and reclamation will continue in
the manner previously permitted at this site. Final reclamation will consist of grading
disturbed areas to stable (1 vertical to 2 horizontal) slopes, covering with stockpiled
organic matter and seeding, fertilizing and mulching to establish a uniform vegetative
cover. Final restoration will be performed within two years of cessation of mining at the
site.
