Project Title: Town of Moriah - Landfill Closure

Project Description: The Town of Moriah proposes closure of its municipal landfill in compliance with a NYS DEC Order on Consent. The landfill is immediately adjacent to wetlands. No additional wetland areas will be filled or impacted by the closure activities. The landfill involves 12.5 acres that will be capped by an impermeable geomembrane topped with topsoil and seeded. Post-construction groundwater, surface water and gas monitoring will be conducted.

Project Title: Warren-Hamilton Housing Corporation

Location: East side of NYS Route 28, Town of Warrensburgh, Warren County

Comment Period Ends: March 28, 2002

Project Description: The action involves a proposed change to the use of the former commercial motel building and operate it for weekly rental housekeeping rooms for seasonal workers. Applicant also proposes to re-utilize a former commercial restaurant building for lease to the North Country Outreach Center (NCOC). NCOC will use the building as a public/semi-public building, including a meeting room, community room, office space, food pantry, storage and a thrift shop. The commercial restaurant will no longer be operated. On-site wastewater treatment and water supply facilities will be utilized.

Negative Declaration

Essex County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Establishment of an Auxiliary Parking Area will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involving proposed Amendments to the High Peaks Wilderness and Hammond Pond Wild Forest Areas will not have an adverse environmental impact. The action involves amending the High Peaks Wilderness Area and Hammond Pond Wild Forest Unit Management Plans to allow for establishment of a 75-car auxiliary parking area providing overflow parking access for the Garden parking area. The project is located at the intersection of Routes 9N and 73 in the Town of Keene.

Washington County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Andre Hagadorn, Adirondack Natural Stone Quarry will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The applicant is proposing to continue surface mining and processing of a consolidated rock, gneiss, from 17.6 acres of a 160.3-acre property. This activity has taken place at this location for the past 4 years with a total area affected of 7.9 acres to date. Mining would be conducted in 2 phases; the duration each phase would be approximately 5 years. Washington County - The Town of Greenwich, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Greenwich Free Library Septic Easement will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the granting of an easement by the Town of Greenwich to the Greenwich Free Library system for the installation of a septic system below the surface of an existing park. The project is located in the Town of Greenwich.

SERP Action - Negative Declaration

Essex County - Pursuant to the NYS Clean Water/Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and the State Environmental Quality Review Act, DWSRF Project # 15809, the Town of North Elba, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Ray Brook Water System Improvements will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. This project involves the replacement of 8,300 linear feet of distribution main with 8" DIP along NYS Route 86 and McKensie Pond Rd. Other improvements include the development of a new water supply well at the same site of the existing well field to replace a damaged well and installation of a generator.
