Project Description:

The applicant proposes to develop a sand and gravel mine that wil result in a disturbance of up to 3.6 acres during the life of the mine. The mine site is located on the applicant's farm located along NYS Route 11 in the Town of Chateaugay. Material will be processed on-site through the use of a portable crushing plant and screen; approximately 25 tons will be removed annually. Upon completion of mining, the site will be graded to stable slopes, stockpiled topsoil will be mixed with manure and spread over the site, and the site will be seeded with a mixture of timothy and alfalfa to return the site to agricultural production. The application and draft permit can be reviewed by making an appointment with the contact person.
