Extension of Comment Period

Suffolk County - The comment period for the proposed Suffolk County Water Authority Laurel Lake elevated water tank has been extended from January 28, 2002 to February 19, 2002. Comments should be addressed to John C. Milazzo, 4060 Sunrise Highway, Oakdale, New York, 11769. The project involves the construction of a one million gallon elevated storage tank that will provide potable water for public use and fire protection. The proposed project is located on the North side of Main Road, Hamlet of Laurel, Town of Southold, County of Suffolk, SCTM #1000-121-5-5.001. The project will result in a one million gallon water storage facility in an area that is presently not served by an elevated water storage facility. The tank will increase the fire protection capacity for the western part of the Town of Southold, allow SCWA to carefully control the use of wells in the Town to prevent contamination of the aquifer, and provide for the provision of water in times of catastrophic events, when electricity is unavailable. This project was the subject of an ENB notice on December 26, 2001.


Negative Declaration with Public Hearing

Nassau County - The Village of Lawrence, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed zoning changes will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. A public hearing will be held on February 12, 2002 at 8:30 p.m. at 196 Central Avenue, Lawrence, New York. The action involves zoning changes to the code of the Village. The project is located villagewide.

Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of Riverhead, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Site Plan of Mid Road Properties will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves construction of a 126 unit retirement community condominium complex with attendant improvements. The project is located on the north side of Middle Road, approximately 250 feet west of Mill Road, Riverhead, New York.

Suffolk County - The Planning Commission of Nassau County, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed G and B Associates will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a seven lot residential subdivision. The plan provides a Conservation Buffer of 25-40 feet along a stream located on the property. The project is located on Oyster Bay Road and Dogwood Lane, Locust Valley, New York.

Suffolk County - The Planning Board of the Town of Brookhaven, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Site Plan Application of Adesa will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of an automobile auction facility on two parcels with a new 36,430 s.f. building. Site improvements and renovation of an existing 37,242 s.f. to be used for offices, auto processing and vehicle storage. The project is located on Yaphank Road and Horseblock Road, Patchogue.

Suffolk County - The Board of Education of the Bay Shore Union Free School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed additions and alterations at the existing Bay Shore High School may have a significant adverse impact on the environmental and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The Board of Education of the Bay Shore Union Free School District is proposing additions and alterations to the existing Bay Shore High School. This project specifically consists of new construction at choir room; new construction at academic/administrative wing; new construction at field house (gymnasium) with swimming pool; new elevator at field house and choir room; new elevator at administrative wing; miscellaneous interior reconstruction; improved acoustics at foreign language rooms; new classroom furniture; new computer technology (rewiring) at faculty interior reconstruction, graphic lab, music lab reconstruction, and new computer classroom; general furnishings and equipment; new casework at existing science classrooms; new science room casework; new Intel lab special casework/technology; new marine biology lab special casework; new science room exhaust/piping; acid waste storage tank for science classrooms; miscellaneous HVAC upgrades; new boiler room equipment; new fuel oil storage tank; new electric service; new water service/hydrant with RPZ; cafeteria courtyard improvements; provide new concessions, toilets and storage at football field; provide new athletic field lighting at three locations; demolish existing tennis courts and rebuild in new location; and establish temporary parking and storage area during construction. The project is located at 155 Third Avenue, Hamlet of Bay Shore, Town of Islip.
