ENB - REGION 5 NOTICES
|Completed Applications||Consolidated SPDES Renewals|
Saratoga County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Ronald Harrington, Rock-N-H Sand and Gravel Mine will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The applicant proposes a 4.6 acre expansion of an existing unconsolidated materials (sand) mine. The land proposed for the expansion is contiguous to the currently permitted mine. Mining would be conducted in 1 phase; the duration of which would be approximately 5 years. Following DEC staff’s inspection on 08/23/01 of the proposed mine site and its review of the mining permit application, the mined land use plan, the mined land reclamation plan and the full environmental assessment form the relevant areas of environmental concern have been identified. These areas of concern are the normally associated impacts of an unconsolidated material mining operation specifically ground water, dust, erosion, traffic, noise and visual. All other impacts were judged to be either non-significant or improbable and therefore, not relevant to the lead agency’s determination of environmental significance. The project is located on Rock City Road, Saratoga County Route 49, in the Town of Milton. A more extensive project description is included in the notice of complete application which can be found at the following location www.dec.state.ny.us/website/enb2001/20011121/Reg5.html
