Project Description:

In accordance with the requirements of 6 NYCRR Part 505.13, the applicant has applied for a Variance from the provisions of Part 505.8(c), to allow issuance of a permit for grading and toe protection along 400 feet of an existing bluff to prevent erosion. The purpose of the project is to protect existing and proposed adjacent structures on the applicant's property on Lake Road in the Town of Webster.

The applicant proposes to place armor stone on bedrock exposed above the mean high water level, and to grade an unstable existing bluff to a lower and more uniform slope no steeper than one foot of vertical rise to two feet of horizontal run. The armor stone will be backed by smaller stone and filter fabric to prevent the loss of the graded bluff material, and the slope surface will be protected from erosion by placement of protective materials until a permanent vegetative cover can be established.
