Negative Declaration

Delaware County - The New York State Department of Transportation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed New York State Route 97 over East Branch Delaware River S.H. 5671 Hancock - Long Eddy Park 1 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The project will replace the Route 97 over East Branch Delaware River bridge on an alignment adjacent to and downstream of the existing bridge (Alternative B). The total length of the project is 0.25+ miles, all in the village of Hancock, Delaware County. Highway reconstruction starts south of the Peas Eddy Road intersection on the south approach of the bridge. On the north approach of the bridge, Route 97 will intersect East Front Street approximately at the existing municipal building. The bridge will carry two 3.3 m lanes, two 1.5 m shoulders/bicycle lanes, and a 1.6 m sidewalk on the downstream side of the bridge. Traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge during construction of the new bridge. The existing bridge will be removed once the new bridge is open to traffic.
