Project Description: Proposed reconstruction and realignment of a portion of NYS Route 29, to correct non-standard highway design features, as well as pavement, shoulder and drainage deficiencies. This three-part project begins just west of the intersection of Jockey Street (CR 52) in East Galway and continues east along Route 29 for approximately 6 miles, to just east of the intersection of Middle Line Road (CR 59) in North Milton. The project involves the following activities in Freshwater Wetlands M-12, M-65 and M-70 (class II) and adjacent areas: road realignment and widening, pavement and guide rail removal, and drainage improvements. Also, approximately 2410 feet of Clover Mill Brook (class C(T)) and 1050 feet of Star Brook (class C(T)) will be moved to accommodate road realignments. A total of five stream culverts will be replaced and a new culvert constructed as part of this project. Proposed wetland impacts for the entire three-part project will total approximately 2.97 acres of federally-regulated wetlands, which includes 0.65 acres of state-regulated wetlands. Impacts will be mitigated by creating 20+ on-site wetland areas, totaling at least 2.98 acres. |
