Project Description: The South Ti Sand & Gravel Pit, located on Rt 9N, in the Town of Ticonderoga, is owned by Randy and Barabara Perkins. The applicant, Patrick Armstrong, proposes to expand the depth of the existing mine by 10 feet, and the surface area by .84 acres; approximately 75 ft west of the current life of mine limit. Three new groundwater monitoring wells will be installed to the west, down- gradient of the pit. The floor of the mine will remain 10 feet above the water table. The Adirondack Park Agency is reviewing this project under APA # 98-72. |

The E.J. West Project is a 20 megawatt hydroelectric facility located on the Conklingville Dam at the outlet of Great Sacandaga Lake. The Department has prepared a draft Water Quality Certificate and made a tentative determination to approve the request for Water Quality Certification. The application and draft Water Quality Certificate incorporate the Upper Hudson/Sacandaga River Offer of Settlement ("Settlement") developed by the cooperative relicensing team that met from 1996 through 1999 to address resource/water quality issues associated with the project. (The comprehensive Settlement resolves resource/water quality issues at the E.J. West Project and 3 other hydroelectric projects located on the Sacandaga and Upper Hudson rivers.) The draft certification for the E.J. West Project includes requirements for fish protection. The Water Quality Certification will remain in force for the duration of the FERC license.
