Project Name: NYS Department of Transportation

Location: NYS Route 3/unnamed tributaries

Comment Period Ends: 9/6/01

Project Description: The NYS Department of Transportation proposes to rehabilitate 5 existing culverts on NYS Route 3 that are currently failing. The 5 culverts have been "red flagged" by the DOT and are in need of immediate repair or the roadway must be closed. Rehabilitation will consist of slipping PVC pipes through the existing culverts and grouting between the culverts. In order to undertake the project, the DOT will acquire temporary easements to allow them to work outside of the Route 3 right-of-way . Wetland soil and vegetation will be excavated and a stone pad approximately 25' x 50' in size will be constructed adjacent to the waterways. The stone will be placed with a top elevation that is 6" below the invert elevation of the existing culverts. Upon completion of the project, the stone will be left in place and the excavated wetland soil and vegetation will be spread over it to reestablish the wetlands.
