Article 23 Title 27 Mined Land Reclamation |
| Project is Located: | Duane, Franklin County | |
Project Description: The Town of Duane proposes to continue the use of and expand a sand and gravel mine that has been in use since 1960. Presently, 4 acres have been affected by mining activities at the site located on the south side of County Route 26, east of State Route 30 and adjacent to the Town Highway Garage. A total of 4.5 acres are proposed to be disturbed by mining during the requested 5 year permit term within an identified 7.8 acre life of mine area. Mined material will continue to be screened and stockpiled on site for use as winter road sand. In addition, the mine will now serve as a source of material for closure of the Town landfill, also adjacent to this site. At the conclusion of mining activities, the site will be reclaimed by grading to stable slopes followed by the spreading of topsoil or a mixture of approved compost and sand. The area will then be seeded with a grass mixture to achieve a vegetative cover. |
