Project Description: The applicant proposes to construct an outfall diversion channel to extend an existing combined sewer overflow (CSO) outfall. The outfall diversion channel and floatables control system will extend approximately 228 feet from the existing CSO outfall into Little Bay. Approximately 740 cubic yards of material would be dredged from Little Bay to construct the diversion channel. Dredged material will be disposed of at an approved licensed landfill. The proposed diversion channel would impact approximately 4,100 square feet of shallow water habitat and construction activities would disturb approximately 5,400 square feet of mudflat and littoral zone. To mitigate the impacts to NYSDEC regulated Tidal Wetlands, the applicant will create 8,200 square feet of new shallow water habitat and restore 5,400 square feet of tidal wetlands. The project is located west of the Throgs Neck Bridge in the southwestern corner of Little Bay, immediately north of Little Bay Park. |
