You are invited to attend a public meeting sponsored by the Staff of the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS Staff). This meeting is being held to give you an opportunity to give oral comments on the sufficiency of Draft Stipulations prepared regarding a proposal by Kings Park Energy, LLC (Case 00-F-1356), to construct a 300-megawatt electric generating facility at a site on Townline Road in the Town of Smithtown. "Stipulations" are written agreements that establish the scope of environmental impact studies and other information needed before an application to build an electric generating facility can be reviewed. At the meeting, DPS Staff will also explain the review process pursuant to Article X of the New York State Public Service Law and answer process questions.

Positive Declaration

Suffolk County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed additions and alterations to the High School may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The project is located at 2 Long Lane, East Hampston, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing

Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of Brookhaven, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Town of Brookhaven Cell 6 Landfill Expansion. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on August 7, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Town Offices, Auditorium Bldg. 4, 3233 Rte. 112, Medford, New York. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until August 20, 2001. The action involves the development of a new lined landfill cell within the property boundaries of the Town of Brookhaven’s 534 Acre Waste Management Facility Site. The new landfill cell will be located between, and to the north of, the existing Cell 5 and previously landfilled areas in Cells 1-4. The new cell will include 147 acres of fill area plus 36 acres of ancillary facilities, and will provide landfill capacity for the Town for an additional 17.9 years. The project is located on Horseblock Road, Town of Brookhaven.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft Supplemental EIS

Suffolk County - The Town of Islip, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Court Plaza Senior Apartments, Hotel and Restaurants Development Courthouse Corporate Center. Written comments on the Supplemental EIS will be accepted until July 30, 2001. The action involves a change of zone from Planned Development District to Planned Development District Residential and Planned Development District Retail Service. The applicant also seeks Town Board Special Permits for senior citizen apartments and four restaurants. The applicant also seeks to construct a hotel on the property. The project is located on East Side Carleton Avenue, adjacent to Hoppen Drive, Central Islip, New York.

Suffolk County - The Town of Islip, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Carleton Avenue Food and Entertainment Center. Written comments on the Supplemental EIS will be accepted until July 30, 2001. The action involves a modification of deed covenants and restrictions associated with TC #4454 in order to request an additional 40,000 square feet of restaurant space with the Tech Commons shopping center. The project is located on the west side of Carleton Avenue, between north and south Research Place, Central Islip, New York.
