In the June 13, 2001, Environmental Notice Bulletin, the Notice of Completion by the Department of Environmental Conservation for the Jointa Galusha, LLC, Hartford Quarry, DEC Application ID # 5-5338-00009/00001 incorrectly stated that the department had accepted a final EIS for the project. The department has actually accepted and extended the comment period for a draft environmental impact statement. The notice was in all other aspects accurate, including project description, location, and hearing and comment dates.

Project Description: The action involves vegetative cutting within 100' of the Saranac River, a designated "recreational river" in the New York State Wild, Scenic and Recreational Rivers System. Fifty-one trees, ranging from 3 to 12+ inches diameter at breast height, are to be removed together with understory saplings and brush in the vicinity of an existing single-family dwelling. This vegetation is to be removed to eliminate unsafe trees, reduce fire hazard, enable the installation of a powerline to serve the dwelling and to create favorable light conditions for a modest garden area. Remaining vegetation will be retained to maintain visual screening of the dwelling from the river.
