Project Description:

The applicant has applied for an Article 24 Fresh Water Wetlands permit to construct a single family residence within the adjacent area of the Lake Ontario riparian Fresh Water Wetland (FWW) HM-14 (Class I). Fill is proposed to be placed in order to construct the structure above the Lake Ontario flood elevation. A fence demarcating the limits of construction and occupational disturbance in the FWW will be required, if approved. Access to the lot is to be provided by constructing an a driveway through a federal wetland, requiring a Section 401 Water Quality Certification. The project is subject to approvals by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Town of Hamlin, pursuant to their Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP). Application materials are available for public review and comment at the NYS DEC Regional Headquarters.

Project Description:

Syncor International Corporation, headquartered in Woodland Hills, California has applied for a Part 360 Solid Waste Management Facility Permit and a Part 380 Radiation Control Permit to prepare, distribute, and store unit-dose radio pharmaceuticals for use in the medical industry. Syncor is currently permitted and operating at 110 Linden Oaks, Rochester, NY and proposes to move their operations to a nearby larger facility at 830 Linden Avenue, Rochester, NY (in the Town of Pittsford). Typical operations will include preparation and transportation of radio pharmaceuticals in single-dose form, typically syringes, contained in lead-lined plastic sleeves, inside ammunition cans. After the doses are administered at the medical facility, the spent syringe is returned to Syncor in the same protective containers and stored until radioactive background levels are reached. The facility will be equipped with a roof top charcoal filtration unit to control discharges of iodide-131 and xenon-133. The permit will require air monitoring to assure that the facility will be in compliance with applicable discharge limitations. The permit application materials and SEQR documentation are available for review and comment at the NYSDEC regional office.

The Town of Shelby proposes to establish the Shelby Water District #6 to take for use therein a supply of water estimated to average 48,300 gallons per day from the Niagara County Water Authority via the Village of Medina. The project includes the installation of approximately 23,400 linear feet of 12-inch and 3,200 linear feet of 8-inch water main and appurtenances to serve 161 houses along Fletcher Chapel, South Gravel, and Dresser Roads in the Town of Shelby.
