Project Description: The Department has drafted a permit pursuant to Article 19 (Air Pollution Control) of the NYS Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) and Title V of Federal Clean Air Amendments and made a tentative determination to approve this application for the applicant's existing commercial printing facility. The facility consists of 2 press flexographic printing presses with bag machines. Presses exhaust to a catalytic oxidizer. Presses apply solvent based inks to polyethylene rolled sheeting producing materials for a variety of commercial and industrial applications. The facility VOC emissions are capped at 37 TPY. The application, draft permit, and relevant supporting materials and regulations are available for review during normal business hours at the Regional DEC office provided in this notice. Comments of support or objection may be made by filing a written statement by the deadline date indicated. NYSDEC may schedule a public hearing cased upon an evaluation of the nature and scope of any written objection raised. Hearing notices will contain instructions on filing for party status and submitting comments. In accordance with 6 NYCRR part 621.6(d)(9) and 201-6.4(c), the Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has the authority to bar issuance of any Title V facility permit if it determined not to be in compliance with the applicable requirements of the Clean Air Act or 6 NYCRR Part 201. |

Project Description: The Department of Environmental Conservation has determined that the referenced State Facility Air Pollution Control permit application for three existing boilers is complete. Calverton Enterprises operates three existing boilers with a combined total heat input capacity limited to 147.3 MM Btu/hr by burning number 4 or number 6 fuel oil. The boilers have design capacities of 59.1 MM Btu/hr, 59.1 MM Btu/hr and 29.1 MM Btu/hr, respectively. Sulphur content of the fuel oil shall not exceed 0.5% by weight. Compliance with this limit will be demonstrated by sampling and analysis of each fuel delivery with semiannual reporting of the results. The opacity from the combustion of any fuel oil in either of the two larger boilers shall not exceed 20%. This is demonstrated by the installed opacity monitor which is subject to quarterly monitoring performance auditing with semiannual reporting. The oxides of nitrogen on a facility-wide basis shall not exceed 24.9 tons per year which will be attained by limiting oil consumption to less than 3.4 million gallons per year. The facility is located in Calverton, Town of Riverhead. |
