Project Description: The Town of Wallkill has applied for a Water Supply Permit (WSA# 10087) to develop the new Rykowski Wellfield with three wells known as Wells #PW-1, at 600 gallons per minute (gpm), #PW-2 at 500 gpm and #PW-3 at 300 gpm for a total capacity of 1400 gpm, which is equal to approximately 2.0 million gallons per day (MGD). The additional water from these new wells would be used to supplement the Town's existing water supply and distribution system. The Town would nave a total of 10 wellfields with this new wellfield. The Town's total water supply capacity would increase from the current average of 3,140 gpm ( which equals 4.25 MGD) to a new total of 4,540 gpm (which equals 6.54 MGD). The Town's average daily water demand, which ranges from 3.2 MGD to 4.8 MGD, serves 13,300 residents as part of its 4,100 service connections, including commercial and industrial buildings. The Rykowski Wellfield, and its three new wells, is located adjacent to the Wallkill River, off Rykowski Lane (near Crystal Run Road) in the Town of Wallkill, Orange County, NY. |
