Request for Proposal

Erie County - The Town of Amherst is seeking qualified Solid Waste Collectors to provide service to the Town of Amherst. Five (5) copies of this proposal are due no later than 3:00 p.m., July 9, 2001 at the Council Chambers of the Town of Amherst, 5583 Main Street, Williamsville, New York 14221. The Town's intent is to negotiate through the Request For Proposal (RFP) procurement process, a mutually beneficial agreement with one company relative to such solid waste management service.

Proposal Defined:

The Town of Amherst is interested in seeking proposals from qualified contractors wishing to provide collection and hauling service to the Town for the period January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2006. This proposal will include collection of all Solid Waste, Recyclables and Yard waste and hauled to designated disposal facilities from the Town of Amherst and the Village of Williamsville.

Background:

The Town of Amherst is a large municipal government which has provided Solid Waste services since 1987. The Town is 54 square miles and has a population of 116,200 based upon the 2000 Census. The Request for Proposal will include service to be provided to the Village of Williamsville. Total units in this proposal is 34,599 based upon assessment rolls from the Town and Village.

The intent of this proposal is to provide the same quality of service as presently provided for. In addition, this will afford individuals the opportunity to present options available to provide the best service at the least cost.

Negative Declaration

Niagara County - The City of Niagara Falls Office of Environmental Services, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Jayne Park Master Plan/Phase I Restoration will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the preparation of a Master Plan for Jayne Park and the implementation of Phase I improvements based on portions of the Master Plan. Planned Phase I improvements include:

Landscape enhancements
Benches, Picnic Tables, Trash receptacles
Picnic Shelters
Walking Path Around a portion of the park
Expanded Children's play structure
Limited off-street parking for handicap accessibility
Stream overlook/fishing platform

The project is located at 8600 Joliet Avenue, Niagara Falls, New York.
