Suffolk County - The Town of Huntington Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Request to Alienate Parkland (Dix Hills Park) to Install Well site will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The Town Board has requested that the State Legislature enable the alienation of a less than two-acre component of Dix Hills Park to allow construction of a new water supply site. The use would be allowed by license agreement between the Town and Dix Hills Water District. The land that is subject of the alienation request was deeded to the Town in 1981 to be used for park and other municipal purposes, with which the water supply use would be consistent. However, certain Town records designate it solely as parkland; therefore, requiring that the alienation request be made. Alternative locations for the water supply site were considered as part of the SEQRA review to mitigate potential loss of woodland resources and minimize impact to adjoining residences. The alienation request affects less than 1.8% of the total 162-acre area at Dix Hills Park. No recreational resources are to be affected. The Town will acquire and convert/dedicate as parkland a 2.3-acre parcel contiguous to the site to replace the alienation area. The property is located in the northeast component of Dix Hills Park, on the west side of Vanderbilt Parkway in Dix Hills.

Suffolk County - The Town of Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Pebble Hill Building Corp. will not have a significant adverse environmental impact provided specific conditions are met. There will be a 30- day public comment commencing with the date of this notice. The action involves a request width at setback variance intent to erect a single-family dwelling. The project is located at Gun Club Road and Bread & Cheese Hollow Road, Fort Salonga.
The conditions are: Applicant will complete required archaeological assessments, including a Stage I and any testing and mitigation (Stages I and II) required as a result thereof.
