Project Description: The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application to modify the existing SPDES permit to allow for increased flows to treatment systems 1 and 2 (outfalls 002 and 004) from 14,880 gpd and 16,820 gpd to 22,440 gpd for both systems. This increased flow reflects increased loading rates for the septic tank/sand filter system which were constructed in 1994. Previous loading rates were 1.39 gpd/sf and 1.59 gpd/sf and the proposed loading rate to the new systems is 2.0 gpd/sf. Both systems are septic tank/sand filter/chlorination with discharge to St. Lawrence River, Class A. Project is located in Wellesley Island State Parks, Town of Orleans, Jefferson County. A draft permit is available for inspection and comment at the Watertown DEC office. |
