Negative Declaration

Schoharie County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Site Preparation - Schoharie RA #3; Stand A-7 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a post-harvest reduction of undesirable vegetation (forbs, ferns, other herbaceous plants) from the site by spraying Glyfos. This action is to take place on a two acre site where the advance regeneration consists of undesirable regeneration of beech, red maple and striped maple. There are also ferns on the site. This action will remove this undesirable vegetation on the site for a period of time sufficient to allow more desirable regeneration (black cheery, hard maple) to become established. The only vegetation to be removed is non-threatened or non-endangered species. Impact on public health is minimal. Personnel will be equipped with safety equipment. Also, following label instructions for the application will minimize risk. The project is located four miles southeast of Summit, Town of Summit.
