Notice of Availability for Comment

Project Title: Availability for Comment of Voluntary Cleanup Project Modification to Work Plan Former MIMI Cleaners (58 Christie Place, Scarsdale), Site No. V00306-3

Project Location: The site is located at 58 Christie Place, Scarsdale, Westchester County

Project Description: The May 2000 Remedial Action Work Plan specified removal of perchloroethylene-contaminated soil under the floor of the former day cleaner. As planned, approximately 72 tons of soil were removed during the summer of 2000. More contaminated soil was discovered under the floor, however, than can be removed. The Modification to Work Plan calls for soil vapor extraction to reduce levels of remaining perchloroethylene in the soil and to protect air quality in the commercial building space. The floor has been repaved and the building space will be rented, following confirmatory air sampling.

Comment Period: The Voluntary Cleanup Agreement, the Remedial Action Work Plan (May 2000), and the Modification to Remedial Work Plan (January 9, 2001) are available for review at the following locations: Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583; and at the Departmentís Region 3 Office located at 21 South Putt Corners Road in New Paltz, NY. Written comments on this action must be received within 30 days of this Notice. Written comments expressing objections or opposition to the Modification must explain the basis of the opposition and identify the specific grounds which could justify the Departmentís imposing significant changes to the Modification. No formal response is made to comments but as a result of comments the Department may reevaluate or revise the Modification to Remdial Work Plan.

SERP Action - Reaffirmation of Negative Declaration

Orange County - Pursuant to the NYS Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and the State Environmental Quality Review Act, the following action has been undertaken: Village of Kiryas Joel Water Project, DWSRF No.: 16593. A negative Declaration was issued on April 3, 2000, this notice reaffirms that determination. The action involves the construction of a new groundwater source, pumping station, water storage tank and transmission main to help meet the needs for potable drinking water supply for the Village. The project is located in the Village of Kiryas Joel and Village property near Industrial Roadin the Town of Monroe.

Negative Declaration

Westchester County - The Planning Board of the Town of Mount Pleasant, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Pace University - Health and Fitness Center will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a 75,000 sq. ft. Health and Fitness Center on the Pace University Pleasantville Campus in an area currently occupied by an approximately 144 space parking area, and the construction of new surface parking areas, as well as alteration of existing parking areas, for a net provision of a total of 2,089 parking spaces. The project is located on the northerly side of Bedford Road, Pleasantville.

Notice of Acceptance of Final Supplemental Generic EIS

Sullivan County - The Mamakating Town Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Supplemental Generic EIS on the proposed Adoption of Mamakating Comprehensive Plan. The action involves the adoption of a Comprehensive Plan to guide future development in the unincorporated area. The project is located in the Town of Mamakating.
