Negative Declaration

Bronx County - The New York City School Construction Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed James Monroe Academy Addition – Bronx will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a new 611-seat addition to the former James Monroe High School building, which currently houses the six schools comprising the James Monroe Academy. The proposed addition would permit each of the six academy constituents to increase their respective enrollments. The new five-story addition would occupy an approximately 14,000 square foot rectangular portion of the academy’s running track and athletic field facing onto East 172nd Street. The project is located at 1300 Boynton Avenue, Bronx.

New York City (Manhattan) County - The New York City Department of City Planning, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed 14-16 Wooster Street will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the top six floors of a seven story building to be converted to as-of-right joint living work quarters for artists and are not part of this action. The proposed action will allow 3,070 sq. ft. of commercial uses on the first floor of the buiding with 2,523 sq. ft. of accessory storage for the commercial uses in the cellar. The project is located at 14-16 Wooster Street, Block 229, Lot 13, Manhattan Community District 2, in an MI-5B Zoning District.

Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS

New York City County - The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Bellevue Hospital Center Ambulatory Care Facility and City of New York Office of Chief Medical Examiner DNA Laboratory Projects. The action involves the demolition of the HHC Bellevue Hospital Center's (BHC) 114,375-gross-square-foot (gsf), multistory, 392-space parking facility and the construction of a 6-story (plus basement), approximately 207,000-gsf Ambulatory Care Facility in that general location. Existing ambulatory care departments on the BHC campus will be consolidated into the new Ambulatory Care Facility. The vacated spaces totaling approximately 138,000 gsf will be renovated and backfilled with other hospital services and units. Additionally, as part of the proposed project, the OCME is proposing to construct a new, 11-story (plus two underground levels), approximately 321,620-gsf DNA Laboratory on the BHC campus. This proposal involves demolition of the one-story, 13,500-gsf Med Plan Building and the two-story, 12,300-gsf Emergency Medical Service (EMS) station, and the construction of the new DNA Laboratory in that general area. One underground level will contain a parking garage for approximately 40 vehicles. The second underground level will contain mechanical and storage space. A 6,000-gsf EMS replacement facility will be incorporated into the ground floor of the new DNA Laboratory facility.
