An common access driveway off Pine Bark Road is proposed, as well as a single family dwelling, porch and septic system for each lot. The project is located within the NYSDEC regulated Wild, Scenic & Recreational River corridor for the Peconic River, and requires a variance from the lot size requirements. Applicant proposes to construct a 3,136 sq. ft. addition to the existing auto repair garage, a new concrete walk with handicap access, asphalt parking area, new curbing, sanitary system, drainage structures, and stone blend storage area. Place 5,311 cubic yards of sand and gravel fill and grade. The site is located at 1863 West Main Street (N.Y.S. Route 25), Town of Riverhead, County of Suffolk within the recreational portion of the Peconic River Corrdor.

The Department has made a tentative determination to modify an existing State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit for the facilty known as the Calverton Enterprise Park, formerly known as the Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant (DEC No. 1-4730-00013/00034). This permit covers multiple outfalls discharging to surface waters and groundwater. These discharges include a variable amount of treated process and sanitary wastewater from an existing sewage treatment plant to the Peconic River by way of McKay Lake, stormwater runoff and non-contact cooling water from four additional outfalls to an unnamed pond, and stormwater and non-contact cooling water from seven outfalls to groundwater. The modification involves the elimination of sampling and monitoring requirements for several organic compounds which are no longer produced due to the cessation of most industrial activity at the facility.
