Project Description: The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application for a modification of the permit to increase the authorized discharge from 500,000 to 800,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary wastewater into the Chenango River from the Northgate Wastewater Treatment Plant. The applicant has already completed construction of the facility upgrades to accommodate the requested permit capacity. The Department also proposes to impose new increased loading limits for biological oxygen demand (BOD) and Total Suspended Solids (TSS). Concentration limits for BOD and TSS will remain the same. In addition, a new page would be added to the permit that would set concentration and total limits associated with four parameters from leachate proposed for acceptance from the Nanticoke Landfill. The four parameters include mercury, cyanide, iron and phenois. Refer to the application number listed above, and SPDES number, NY 021 3781. |
