The Plan will be used by the towns of Irondequoit, Penfield, and Webster and Monroe County to plan for improvements to existing trails and provide for links between different destinations on Irondequoit Bay. Monroe County - The City of Rochester, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Port of Rochester/Harbor Public Improvements Projects may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves the design and construction of public improvements. The proposed public improvements include realignment of Beach Avenue, east of Lake Avenue; the reconstruction and extension of River Street from Stutson Street into the Port area; reconstruction of Latta Road, east of Lake Avenue; a new access road from River Street, south of Petten, east of the railroad tracks; new access roads from Lake Avenue into the port area; parking and infrastructure improvements; construction of a parking garage and transit center; redevelopment of the north warehouse; construction of a Customs Station/Ferry Terminal/Multi-use building and other required border crossing facilities to support operation of a fast ferry service between Rochester and Toronto, Canada; installation of a public transient docking facility and new pedestrian trails along the river.
Located within 100 feet of the Genesee River, the proposed physical alteration of more than 10 acres, also substantially contiguous to parkland; physical alteration of the quay wall; parking improvements for more than 1000 vehicles; work within public rights of ways adjacent to an historic park and to structures listed in National Registry (Charlotte Genesee Lighthouse and the Dentzel Carousel in Ontario Beach Park); disposition of publicly owned property for private commercial use; installation of new streets; acquisition of property; an amendment to the City-County Parks jurisdiction operation, and maintenance agreement, amendments to the Official Map; realignment of park boundaries including relocation of the public boat launch facilities off-site.
