SERP Draft Negative Declaration

Onondaga County - Onondaga County, as lead agency, proposes to issue a negative declaration for its proposed Stage III Ammonia/Stage II Phosphorus removal project. The proposed project will allow accelerating the schedules for Stages II and III ammonia removal plus Stage II phosphorus removal from the county's treated wastewater through construction of those facilities, plus an ultraviolet effluent disinfection facility on a single site. The site is the former Niagara Mohawk gas manufacturing plant on Hiawatha Boulevard, which will be partially remediated in the process of constructing the new wastewater treatment facilities. The Onondaga County legislature adopted a resolution on December 4, 2000, in which they concluded that the project will have significant beneficial impacts on the water quality of Onondaga Lake. On that basis, the county proposes to issue a negative declaration for the project. Comments on the proposed negative declaration will be accepted for 30 days.
