Project Description: CHGE and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) have entered into a Voluntary Agreement to clean up contaminated soil and investigate the groundwater under the 610 Little Britain Road site to make it suitable for continued operation of CHGE’s Little Britain Road Service Center. A “Remedial Work Plan (for CHGE’s) Little Britain Road Service Center” has been reviewed and tentatively approved by the NYSDEC and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH); and is being made available for public review and comment. The proposed remediation includes the removal of about 3000 cubic yards of contaminated soil, while the proposed groundwater investigation includes the review of pre- and post-excavation groundwater quality, installation of additional monitoring wells, and the preparation of a groundwater monitoring plan as part of the final engineering report.
Comment Period: The Voluntary (Cleanup) Agreement and the “Remedial Work Plan (for CHGE’s) Little Britain Road Service Center” are available for review at the document repositories listed below. Written comments on the work plan will be accepted for 30 days following the date of this notice. Please note that, while no formal response will be made to any comments received, all comments will be reviewed; and, as a result of the comments’ review process, the NYSDEC may re-evaluate and make revisions to the work plan. Dutchess County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed construction of a New Bus Maintenance Facility & Bus Parking for the Pawling Central School District, SED Project No13-12-01-04-5-008-001, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves 3,575 square feet of new construction on existing property. The project is located on Resevoir Road in the Town of Pawling.

Dutchess County - The City of Beacon City Council, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Local Law Regarding Tattoo and Body Piercing Parlors will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The proposed action involves the adoption of a local law which would prohibit the establishment of new tattoo and body piercing parlors on a city-wide basis, and which would provide amortization provisions for the discontinuance of existing tattoo and/or body piercing parlors in the City with a time schedule based upon the extent of capital investment made in the existing establishment. Orange County - The Town of Wallkill Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed action Chip Fab 1998 may have a significant environmental impact and a draft EIS must be prepared. The action involves the construction of two 250,000 square foot computer chip fabrication buildings, a 55,000 square foot materials warehouse, a two-story 120,000 square foot office building, a 100,000 square foot energy/utility center, a 105,000 square foot, two-story building center, construction staging areas, and 90,000 square foot of construction support office space. A draft scope has been prepared and is available for public review and comment. Written comments will be accepted by the contact person until January 3, 2001. The project is located at the intersection of Goshen Turnpike and Crystal Run Road in the Town of Wallkill, Orange County, New York. Tax map parcel Section 60, Block 1, Lots 22.11, 23, 24, 68.1, 68.2, 69, 86, 87, 88, 89 and 90, for a total project area of approximately 174 acres.

The action involves creation of a 157-lot clustered residential subdivision on a parcel of land comprising 269 acres. The project is located in the R-40 residential zone in a ridge protection overlay district, and is located east and south of Overlook Road (Dutchess County Route 46), extending from the Overlook School southeast to Vail Road (a Town Road), Deer Trail, and Vail Road, south of Overlook Road East.
