Suffolk County - The Planning Board of the Town of Brookhaven, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Site Plan Application of Stony Brook Post Office Expansion will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves construction of an 11,361 s.f. post office expansion, 18, 567 s.f. cultural building, 893 s.f. retail additions, pedestrial passageway with additional parking and loading areas. The project is located at E/S Half Hill Road, north of Main Street.

Nassau County - The Planning Board of the Village of Old Westbury, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Site Plan application of SS Old Westbury may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The proposed action involves the development of approximately 112.6 acres of land (formerly owned by the New York Institute of Technology and part of its college campus) located within the Villageís B-4 residential zoning district. The applicant proposes to construct a residential estate consisting of a main house, guest house, caretakerís house, recreational house, pool and pool house, pool terrace gardens, waterfalls, guest pool house, ponds, recreational play area, gardens, basketball court, and tennis court. In addition, the applicant proposed to construct a private 9-hole golf course. There are several existing structures on the property that will be demolished. The majority is undeveloped with wooded and open areas. Approximately 60 acres will be allocated for the proposed golf course, 5.0 acres for roads, buildings and other paved surfaces, 5.2 acres for landscaping other than the golf course, and 4.5 acres for the creation of ponds. Approximately 38.0 acres of forest land will be retained. The project is located at the western intersection of Whitney Lane and Wheatly Road in the Incorporated Village of Old Westbury.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing
Suffolk County - The Riverhead Town Board, as lead agency has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Headriver, LLC. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on December 20, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. at Riverhead Town Hall, Meeting Room 200, Howell Avenue, Riverhead, New York. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted on or before 5:00 p.m. January 4, 2001. The action involves construction on the 21.21 acre site of a 174,000 square foot lumberyard consisting of a principal building/structure of 135,200 square feet and 38,800 square feet of exterior sales/display areas together with required parking, access roads and other site improvements. The project is located on the north side of Old Country Road and east and west of the northerly terminus of Kroemer Avenue, Riverhead.
