Project Description:

The Department has drafted a State Facility Permit pursuant to Article 19 (Air Pollution Control) of the NYS Environmental Conservation Law and made a tentative decision to approve this permit for the Cayuga Correctional Facility located in Moravia, NY. The facility operates three (3) dual fuel (natural gas & No.2 fuel oil) boilers that have a total heat input of 43.9 million Btu/hr. The facility is capping out of PSD requirements for the boilers by accepting an annual limit on the amount of No.2 fuel oil burned. All other sources at this facility are either exempt or trivial.

Emissions from this facility are controlled in accordance with multiple State and Federal regulations.

The application, draft permit, relevant supporting materials and regulations are available for review during normal business hours at the DEC Region 7 office, 615 Erie Blvd. West, Syracuse, NY. Comments of support or objection may be made by filing a written statement by the deadline date indicated. DEC may schedule a public hearing based upon an evaluation of the nature and scope of any written objections raised.
