Project Description: The Department has prepared a fact sheet, drafted a modified permit, and made a tentative determination to approve this application for a discharge of treated and disinfected wastewater to Bear Creek (class C waters) from Highland Glens, a 92 single-family lot residential development, located along County Line Road in the Town of Bennington. The wastewater treatment system design capacity has been enlarged from 22,000 to 30,000 gallons per day. A faulty sand filter system is being replaced by a rotating biological contactor, secondary clarifer, and UV disinfection system. Effluent monitoring frequencies have been increased and influent testing has been added. New Discharge Notification Act requirements will be implemented. |
