Positive Declaration and Public Scoping Session

Wayne County - The Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Red Creek Area Regional Wastewater Facilities Project may have a significant adverse environmental impact and a draft EIS must be prepared. A Public Scoping Session will be held on October 23, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at Wolcott Town Hall, 6070 Lake Avenue, Wolcott, New York 14590. The action involves the following major components: the construction and operation of a regional wastewater treatment facility in the Town of Wolcott north of the Village of Red Creek; the installation of sanitary sewer mains and pump stations to convey sewage to this proposed facility; the conversion of an existing wastewater treatment plant in the Village of Red Creek into a pump station for use in conveying sewage to the proposed regional facility; and the connection to, and use of, an existing gravity trunk sewer to link two sections of proposed sewer main. The regional wastewater treatment facility would initially be sized to treat between 250,000 and 500,000 gallons per day, and ultimately to treat up to 1 million gallons per day. The project is located in the town of Wolcott and Village of Red Creek, Wayne County, New York (including Ford Road, Hawley Road, Route 370 and Route 104A).

Notice of Completion of Final EIS

Wayne County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has accepted a final EIS on the proposed construction of an erosion protection structure consisting of 725 lineal feet of offshore and onshore armor stone revetment. The action involves Thomas A.V. Cassel, representing himself and nine additional Lake Bluff Property Owners, has applied for an Article 15 & 34 Permit and a Section 401 Water Quality Certification to install an armor stone revetment of approximately 725 lineal feet to stabilize the slope of, and minimize wave erosion damage to, their bluff properties at the area commonly known as Lake Bluff, Town of Huron, Wayne County. To facilitate construction, the proposal also includes the improvement of an existing access road to the shoreline, the construction of a truck turn-around area, and the construction of an approximately 260 lineal feet access road along the shoreline. Approximately 125 lineal feet of the westmost portion of the armor stone revetment will be located onshore, and the remaining eastward 600 lineal feet will be located a maximum of 20 feet offshore. The proposed offshore placement is engineered to allow the bluff to fall in behind the revetment and stabilize the bluff at a 1.5:1 angle of repose. The Lake Bluff properties are located in the Town of Huron, on the Lake Ontario shoreline between Sodus Bay and Root Swamp, Wayne County.
