Project Description:

The applicant proposes to dredge 1800 cubic yards of sediment from Mill Pond to 2 feet below existing grade, dewater the material on-site in geotextile tubes, and remove material for off-site disposal. The project is located at Mill Pond, east side of Shore Road, between Mill Pond Road and Harbor Road, Port Washington North, Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, NCTM# Section 5, Block 2, Lots 1, 8 & 9.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination: Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.
SEQR Lead Agency: North Hempstead Town Board
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination: A Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form has been completed. The proposed activity will not impact on registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.
Coastal Management: This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
Opportunity for Public Comment: Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Oct 13 2000.
