The Monroe County Department of Health proposes to apply larvicides in selected wetlands and their 100-ft adjacent areas within Monroe County for the control of vector mosquitos associated with West Nile Virus. Larvicides currently under consideration for use include: Bacillus sphaericus, Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, methoprene, and isostearyl alcohol. No ground or aerial application of adulticides is proposed at this time. Prior to and following larvicide application, vector monitoring and surveillance as prescribed in the NYS West Nile Virus Response Plan (NYS DOH, May 2000) will confirm the validity of control efforts. The application of the larvicides listed above must be performed in accordance with the requirements of a valid Article 15, Aquatic Pesticides Permit, issued by the Department including the notification provisions contained therein. Article 24 application materials are available for public review and comment at the Regional Office of NYS DEC.

The applicant proposes to construct approximately 1300 linear feet of limestone revetment to provide shore protection in Lake Ontario at Hamlin Beach State Park. The project is a easterly extension of an existing revetment. The project is designed for the protection of parkland and infrastructure including a walkway, a road, drainage structrues, a scenic overlook and a parking facility. The project will require an Article 34 Coastal Erosion Management Permit which is administered by the Town of Hamlin.
